Gerrant:
Usually arrives in a blaze of blue light and a loud crash. An accidental visitor to Vara he has recently made his home with Heleen Tanner. This has cause a degree of gossip and a sizable amount of trouble. In fact it tends to accompany Gerrant like a curse and has led to him being an unwelcome arrival in most areas. Even where welcome he will be met with caution as he is known to be at the centre of a grave threat to the Varan lands.
In the last months he has been notably absent from the Tanners Arms although he did leave his companion Wolf T’Mere with Heleen.
Gerrant is around six foot with short cropped brown hair. This with his goatee has started to grey and gives the appearance of being in his late thirties. Conversations with him reveal however he is considerably older. Apparently human there are some tells that all is not that simple. His eyes are jet black and the ears have the slights curve that belies a hint of elfish history. The teeth also are surprise as the canines are distinctly pronounced. Anyone near him will note the coldness that radiates from him and in the dark of the tavern he actually improves the lighting by causing a twilight glow. This is accompanied by a swarm of small golden beelike creatures. These flood to any wounded person in the area and heal them. Anecdotal talk will reveal that under no circumstances should you touch or allow Gerrant to touch you in the Tanners arms Heleen will certainly yank you away.
Solidly built he clearly comes from a warrior linage this with his manner are typical high born & bread. It is notable that he is quite happy in any company except that of fellow high born. This is more to do with the fact he is not of Varan nobility and thus finds the social side awkward and too different from his own home.
He always is seen with his padded armour & tabard. This has a wolfs-head emblazoned on the silver moon. It came as little surprise that Gerrant will not raise weapon or allow to be harmed any wolf. To be fair though no wolf has come near the village while he is there possibly the only reason they allowed him to stay given the trouble he has caused. That and Heleen interceded on his behalf. In return this high born noble has been working for Heleen in the Tavern with a high degree of enthusiasm. He has also read stories from his book of memories to entertain the patrons in the longer winter nights. These tell of a land than nobody will find familiar and is generally considered to be nothing more than fanciful tales for entertainment.
It is never very clear if Gerrant means well or has covert plans or is just insane. The truth is closer to all three. The one item on his person guaranteed to cause comment is his bracers. Clearly very magical they radiate power on a scale unprecedented in common knowledge. The symbols on them have been linked to effects around Gerrant these however have been paled in the background by the appearance of the red-star. This symbol heralds the most insane & random behaviour on Gerrant’s part. It has recently been coupled with the arrival of Nexus. This persona reveals in tormenting Gerrant seemingly by just being able to transcend the prison that the bracers are in reality. Her power is growing and it would seem to be grave threat to the lands.
In the last months the relationship between himself and Heleen has developed into something more serious, although Heleen has found his harder work and eventually managed to seriously upset Gerrant, his upbringing and nature meant he had made certain assumptions about what the relationship meant. Heleen from a totally different background simply hadn’t thought about it enough – thou Gerrant has roundly rebuked her for this as she has after all seen a lot of his book and should have known. The subject of her transcretion would do well to remain out of his way for Gerrant’s temper, short at the best of times, has worn to a paper-thin wall between civil behaviour and outright murder.
The result predictably was a falling out with the last time they saw each other full of some acrimony. He returns to Vara unaware of any of the events of the last few months; very jaded and full of disdain for the five kingdoms – a paupers Empire by his description.
